Mother’s day is celebrated to acknowledge all mothers and to express gratitude for the hardships they bear in giving birth to a child. Mother’s day is celebrated to appreciate the love, affection, care and sacrifice of a mother towards her child. It is a perfect time for one to show love and care for his/her mother. Mother’s day is a great day for the whole family and it’s a day of paying tribute to mothers. It’s a perfect time to reveal the love and care for them and to show that one can never repay what mother did for him or her.

History:
People in ancient times celebrated a holiday to honor motherhood. Ancient Greeks celebrated a holiday in honor of Rhea, the mother of the gods whereas ancient Romans celebrated a holiday in honor of Cybil, a mother goddess.
Mother’s day came into being due to the efforts of Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis. On May 8, 1914, US president Woodrow Wilson signed the resolution for celebrating mother’s day.
Celebrating Mother’s Day:
Mother’s day is celebrated on different days around the world but most commonly, it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. Even though this day is celebrated on, different days all around the world, but the feelings of the people remain the same.
Mother’s day is celebrated in different countries like United States, Japan, Arab world, Pakistan, Israel, India, and Iran etc.
People express their love to their mothers by giving gifts like flowers, greeting cards and cakes. Those who are away from their mothers prefer sending Mother’s Day text messages on this day. It is also a tradition to have a family dinner on this day. For people whose families are miles away, this day is the best reason for a family reunion.
On Mother’s Day, children spend their whole day with their mother appreciating and thanking for everything their mother does for them. The most popular and cherishing way to wish a mother on this day were by giving her breakfast in bed. Most of the families go on picnics or road trips; some even go for brunches or dinner.
Children can make their mother feel good by sharing her load, by doing all the chores and by making her a special meal on that day. Even planning a family reunion could be helpful to those who are keen to make their mothers happy on the day as a mother would always lover spending a good quality time with her family. There are so many other ways of making this day memorable like throwing a party for your mother that it includes her favorite food, music, activities and her closest friends.
A Mother’s day present is a way of showing your love and respect for your mother. There are whole sorts of things that a child can give to her mother as a gift like flowers, cakes, jewelry, greeting cards, her favorite music collection, household items ,a day at a spa, rare and delicious recipes, books, crockery and decoration items.
A Mother taught us ways of life, she taught us how to walk and talk, she took care of us when we were sick and now it’s our job to make her feel good on this special day.
